On September 10, 2025, the China International Fair for Trade in Services officially opened at Beijing Shougang Park. With the theme “Intelligent Innovation Empowers Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Digital Trade Benefits the Globe”, Xiyuan Hospital of CACMS jointly built a TCM characteristic exhibition area in collaboration with the national TCM regional medical centers in Taiyuan (Shanxi Province), Jining (Shandong Province) and Suzhou (Jiangsu Province). The exhibition area focused on showcasing TCM’s innovative practices in modernization, internationalization and national health initiatives, and became a focal point right on the first day. Li Qiuyan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xiyuan Hospital, attended the International Cooperation Forum on Traditional Chinese Medicine Service Trade, and signed two memorandums of cooperation. She was also invited to participate in a round-table discussion, sharing Xiyuan Hospital’s practical experience in the modernization and internationalization of TCM.

I. Cooperation Embarks on a New Journey: Two Key Memorandums Signed

On the first day of the exhibition, Xiyuan Hospital announced important cooperative achievements at the “International Cooperation Forum on Traditional Chinese Medicine Service Trade”, signing memorandum of cooperation with the China Technology Exchange and the Brazilian Institute of Medicinal Plants, respectively.

Through cooperation with the China Technology Exchange, both parties will jointly establish a “TCM Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation and Trade Service Platform”, focusing on evaluating TCM patent technologies, promoting TCM achievements, and property rights transaction and industrialization integration, to promote efficient transformation of clinically valuable and market-potential TCM achievements.

Cooperation with the Brazilian Institute of Medicinal Plants aims to carry out international training, joint curriculum development, and clinical practice collaboration of TCM. It is dedicated to advancing the standardized and localized development of TCM in Brazil and other South American regions, jointly conducting TCM service trade, and injecting new impetus into international TCM cooperation.

II. Cultural Integration & Innovation: Launch of Herbs Through Seasons · Oriental Pharmacopoeia Four-Season Aesthetic Calendar

The Herbs Through Seasons · Oriental Pharmacopoeia Four-Season Aesthetic Calendar — a collaborative work between Xiyuan Hospital and Beijing Language and Culture University Press — was officially launched at the exhibition area. This work deeply integrates TCM’s concept of seasonal health preservation with Oriental aesthetics. With Chinese medicinal herbs as a medium and the calendar as a carrier for cultural values, it promotes TCM culture in daily life, emerging as one of the highlights of the “TCM + Culture” innovative expressions at the CIFTIS.

III. Technology-Enabled Demonstration: Interactive Experiences Spark On-Site Enthusiasm

The Xiyuan Hospital Exhibition Areas offer an immersive experience to the audience through multiple scientific and technological achievements:

Digital Syndrome Differentiation Area: An intelligent TCM four-diagnostic instrument — integrated with clinical experience data of TCM masters — generates personalized constitution reports within 10 minutes.

Intelligent Therapy Experience Area: Miniaturized meridian-regulation robots combine traditional meridian theory with modern robotics technology, providing the public with accurate, comfortable and intelligent non-pharmaceutical therapy experiences.

Transformation & Empowerment Area: It exhibits a range of scientific research achievements, including signature in-hospital preparations and health food products, demonstrating an innovative ecosystem integrating “production, education, research and application”.

Cultural Nourishment & Public Welfare Area: Cultural and creative products such as the “Four-Season Qi Regulating Sachets” and “Apricot Blossoms in Dusk Warm Incense Burners” integrate TCM culture into daily life.

“Belt and Road” Achievement Corner: Xiyuan Hospital showcases its 15-year journey of undertaking national missions and training over 3,000 TCM professionals for five continents worldwide.

IV. A Series of Activities Ongoing: Multi-Dimensional Efforts to Promote TCM for Public Wellbeing

From September 10 to 14, a series of thematic activities were held continuously at the Xiyuan Hospital Exhibition Areas:

TCM Characteristic Technology Experience: 4 sessions of professional TCM health consultations, as well as demonstrations and experiences of TCM nursing techniques such as warm moxibustion scraping therapy, and ear seed acupressure.

TCM Health Product Experience: Tastings of TCM tea alternatives like “Boat-Fruited Sterculia & Snow Pear Drink“; DIY activities for popular TCM-themed bracelets and fragrance pendants.

Thematic Live Streaming in Herbal Live Room: Covering hot topics such as chronic disease management, adolescent health, and AI-empowered TCM, etc.

As the first large-scale TCM hospital built by the Central People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China after its founding, Xiyuan Hospital has adhered to its original mission of “Inheriting the Essence, and Making Innovation While Upholding Integrity” over the past 70 years since its establishment. The splendid exhibition at this CIFTIS is a vivid practice of Xiyuan Hospital as a “national team” in the TCM field. In the future, Xiyuan Hospital will continue to adopt an open and inclusive attitude, join hands with global partners, and contribute to promoting the inheritance and innovative development of TCM, serving the “Healthy China” strategy, and building a global community of health for all.
